In the past couple of years I’ve become more interested in engineering live sound for other artists and events. On this page I’ll publicise some of the things that I’m doing in this respect. I’m always learning and I love working with other musicians and sound engineers picking up advice and comparing notes.
Sourdown Farm beer festival, June ’26
The 1st Sourdown Beer Festival took place on the 26th and 27th June. The crowd enjoyed beautiful weather and performances from The Priddice Brothers, Me and Her and Half a Shanty. It’s hoped to make next year’s festival a three day event with more musical performers.
Summer wedding Music
I was lucky enough to be invited to provide sound production for a local wedding featuring the band Trudy and the Romance from Chesterfield. They performed two fantastic sets followed by a dj into the early hours.
Sunday Session #5
The 5th Sunday Session at The Railway Inn, Meare took place on the 5th July. The weather was glorious and the large crowd enjoyed performances from Freya Delgarno, Street Men and September Son.
Ashcott Beer Festival, July ’26
The Ashcott Beer Festival kicked off on Thursday 9th July with an open mic night. We had about 20 performers ranging from solo guitar/vocal, piano/vocal, a flautist, trios and full bands.
The Festival, proper started on Friday night with great sets from Autumn Red and Rock-It Fuel while Saturday began in the afternoon with Street Ladies and Street Men choirs. Followed by Ashcott panto players, A Bit of Bling, the Dragon Drummers and Andy Harvey. Not forgetting the ferret racingThe marvellous St Fian kicked off the evening with a great set of folky covers fronted by Stef’s fab vocal and a band featuring guitar, bouzouki, bass and accordion.
The Ancestors were the last band of the weekend and they played 2 hours of rock and pop, not so usual, covers. Their unlimited energy taking us through to midnight.
The weather for the whole weekend was fantastic and the selection of beers and ciders plus some great music kept the large crowd very happy. Looking forward to next year.
